Frames of Viewing - Perception, experience, judgement |
Organizer The conference "Frames of Viewing - Perception, Experience, Judgement" was organized in May 2002 by the House of World Cultures, Berlin, Germany, in collaboration with the Getty Research Institute for the History of Art and the Humanities, Los Angeles, USA, and took place in Berlin.
|
Context Does increased use of the visual media lead to greater visual intelligence on the part of viewers, or are they merely more effectively manipulated? This was the question that was addressed by the "Frames of Viewing - Perception, Experience, Judgement" conference: the combined forces of the cognitive sciences, historical sciences, ethnology, philosophy and the media sciences are giving rise to new approaches to perception and image theory, which were discussed by international experts in four panels.
