Playing Media - Participation, Immersion, Interaction |
Organizer The conference "Playing Media" was the annual meeting for the Gesellschaft für Medienwissenschaften Hamburg and was organized in cooperation with the Institut für Medienforschung (IMF) from the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (HBK) Braunschweig, Germany.
|
Context The conference concentrated on the term "participation", which describes the ongoing changes in dealing with new media and which becomes manifest in "games". That digital culture has an immanent playful potential and locating this potential was a further central topic being discussed at this conference, which at the same time explored the connection between "classical" and "new" media.
All lectures were held in German except the ones by Maike Lauwaert, Karin Wenz, Jack Post and Martijn Hendriks.
